Find the source field
cac:Country/cbc:IdentificationCode
Match namespace URI and element name, not a particular prefix spelling. The validator reports the full expanded-name source path when the published rule supplies a location.
Common causes
- A country name or lowercase code was exported.
- A foreign element with the same name was mistaken for the country field.
- The exporter supplied an unknown code.
Invalid and corrected fragments
<cbc:IdentificationCode>de</cbc:IdentificationCode>
<cbc:IdentificationCode>DE</cbc:IdentificationCode>
Check the actual address country. Confirm case/whitespace normalization only for a recognized code at the correct namespace path. Do not infer country from VAT or bank identifiers.

These are fragments, not complete invoices. The exact rule is exercised by synthetic mutation tests against the stated package. Correcting one field does not prove conformance; run the full selected validator again. Published messages and severity remain authoritative.
